hard previously unreleased dubplate cuts on side a, i roy vocal & dub on the same rhythm on the b-side! legendary channel 1 dubplate music. this version of -free black man- by earth & stone was scrapped for release in favor of the softer version that eventually appeared on their -kool roots- album, but this heavy cut achieved infamous dubplate status thru play on uk sound systems. in the case of this tune, it seems only dubwise cuts made the rounds, as we ve not heard (or heard of) a full vocal. and like many tunes not pegged for release from back in the day, mixdown masters were never kept, so only dubplates remain to haunt us. here you get two hard dubwise cuts, remastered from dubplate (punters beware!), raw as ever. on the flip side, i roy s vocal, the only released cut on this rhythm, as well as the only released dub, as appeared on the -musical dub attack.-

not too long ago a jiffy bag arrived at parkwest hq. in it was a scratched tdk case with a sa-x tape containing a musical message from years past, simply marked the tape i lost! we sat and listened, able to pinpoint influence and reference but yet hearing something totally new. that this tape surfaced and made it across the years and the miles to us was fortunate. when the synth part came through clear on a later version on the tape, allowing us to remix then it became destiny. emotion, melody and rhythm will always be timeless and these tracks, selected from that tape, are as relevant today as they ever were.

your silent faces second release � the first on his own label tethys records � continues the deep, brooding techno trajectory set by his first track on fiedeltwo, a place where arms bend backwards. title track red rain is urgent yet considered: subtle acid lines swirl and build against bright defined percussion while the bassline builds towards infinity. it reveals ysf�s inspirations from motorik music, early industrial bands like nitzer ebb and deep techno heroes including sandwell district and rrose.kleinian transform takes techno to a place where georgio moroder meets front 242 and basic channel, creating robotic space-tracks with dub disco melodies, insistent bassline and mighty crescendos. its a late night dancefloor track influenced by dj hell and francois k, but equally by coil and new order. scorched earth closes the red rain ep with a post�apocalyptic melancholy, a soundscape which nods to kraftwerk and boards of canada. this is the track ysf wants you to hear at the end of times, recalling the blistering winds of post-nuclear fallout: darkly spacious, with a questioning melody. the ep was mastered by keith tenniswood at curvepusher.

lizards are lee forster (1/3 last waltz) and james hadfield (the mainstay of the elizabeth collective). taking over a full side, and clocking in at over 9 minutes, anthemic understatement is a very difficult trick to pull of, but the deepness of feel here, coupled with the restraint shown in rhythm and melody, allows the track space to ebb, flow and truly get under the skin of the listener. it s one of those rare tracks that are as equally beautiful as they are danceable international track lives up to it s name, seeing the north eastern english producers channel the japanese take on the balearic sound as heard in productions by artists such as cosmes.

francesco tristano really needs no introduction lately, his music speaks volumes and his reputation precedes him with that said we are happy to share place on lafayette with you once again, this time including some stunning remixes. the first one is a collaboration between two highly respected artists: thomas gandey and radio slave. the two take the track further into tech-house territory with the percussion driving while multiple layers begin the fall into one another, achieving a beautifully elegant and jazzy end result. gutis vision is much deeper, with hints of dub here and there as the artists drives the tension up and creates a stunning groove. the final remix come from tuff city kids, who are known for their sometimes unconventional approach to making music, and in this case, it works. they channel a raw vibe and create something that is quite possibly the furthest thing from the original in terms of percussion. the pianos keep the thread strong, and the rhythm takes care of the rest.
